Admission to the fully residential two year PGDFM is open to graduates from any discipline provided he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria and qualifies through the selection process.

Eligibility :

Applicants should have at least a three-year bachelor's degree in any discipline obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with a minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/DA) or equivalent CGPA.

Candidates appearing for the final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply provided they complete it before June 30, 2015 and fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by IIFM.

Admission Procedure :

  • STEP 1 : Common Admission Test (CAT) :

    All applicants desirous of seeking admission in PGDFM at IIFM have to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), by responding to their notification published in leading national dailies. IIFM will use the CAT score for short-listing the candidates for calling for GD/PI. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

    OR

    Have to appear for Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) conducted by XLRI, by responding to their notification published in leading national dailies. IIFM will use XAT score for short-listing the candidates for calling for GD/PI. XLRI have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

  • STEP 2 : IIFM Application Form :

    In addition to CAT or XAT, the candidate should also apply to IIFM separately through one of the following ways :

    Application complete in all respect including the CAT or XAT or both (if applicable) registration number should reach IIFM Bhopal on or before 2nd February 2015.

  • STEP 3 : Group Discussion/Interview :

    Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT/XAT score, will be called for Group discussion and Interview at Bhopal, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata based on the choice of candidates, as mentioned in the Application Form. However, IIFM reserves the right on the allotment of choice of centre to the candidates.

    Reservation
    As per Government of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates. For Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the 'non-creamy 'layer (NC-OBC) 27% of the seats are reserved. As per the provision under section 39 of the PWD Act, 1995, 3% of the seats are reserved for Persons with Disability (PWD) / Differently Abled (DA) candidates. The three categories of disability are :

    • low-vision/blindness
    • Hearing impairment, and
    • locomotors disability/cerebral palsy
    This provision is applicable if a candidate suffers from any of the listed disabilities to the extent of not less than 40% as certified by a Medical Authority as prescribed and explained in the said Act.

    The candidates belonging to categories for which seats are reserved need to note and read the eligibility requirements carefully before applying. It should be noted that while it is the endeavor of IIFM that the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PWD(DA)/Non – Creamy OBC categories join the programme in proportions mandated by the law, they have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria and a certain minimum level of performance in the admission process.

    Scholarship to SC students
    IIFM is recognized as an Institute of Excellence under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for Scheduled Castes (SC) Students offered by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. This scholarship (total 4) is available to SC category students at IIFM subject to fulfillment of the conditions laid down by the Ministry. The scholarship will cover expenditure of full-fee and lodging boarding charges, books and stationary charges at a fixed rate. A laptop for eligible candidates will also be provided during their study at IIFM.

    Scholarship to ST students

A laptop for eligible candidates will also be provided during their study at IIFM.

    The Performance linked merit scholarship scheme
    This scholarship scheme has been envisaged to create and maintain a competitive spirit among students, to encourage them to progressively perform well in each term. Approximately 20% of the batch will be awarded a merit scholarship of Rs. 5000/- per month from the end of the First Term. After the first term results are declared, the Institute will prepare a merit list of eligible students based on recommendation of the PFM Committee.

    Please note that admission under any category is subject to meeting the selection criteria as specified by IIFM. In case of any dispute, the jurisdiction will be the competent Court of Bhopal only.

General Category / OBC Candidates :
They are required to pay an amount of Rs. 2,52,000/- (non-refundable) as the first installment on receipt of provisional Admission offer. The second instalment of academic fee of Rs. 1,48,000/- (non-refundable) has to be paid on or before the commencement of the second year’s academic session, i.e. before the Fourth Term.

SC/ST Candidates :
They are required to pay an amount of Rs. 1,57,000/- (non refundable) as the first instalment on receipt of provisional Admission offer. The second instalment of academic fee of Rs. 83,000/- (non-refundable) has to be paid in second year academic session i.e. before the Fourth Term.

PFM is a two-year fully residential Post Graduate level diploma programme. The three major specialized modules offered in the two years Post Graduate Programme in Forestry Management (PFM) are.
  • - Conservation and Livelihood (C&L)
  • - Environmental Management (EM)
  • - Developmental Management (DM)

The PFM programme offers dual specialization,
  • major specialization and
  • minor specialization to the students.

Major Specialization :
A student has to opt for one major specialization from available three specializations by opting minimum 8.0 credit courses in total (4.0 Credit compulsory and remaining 4.0 credit electives courses, from major specialization area, offered during Term V & VI ). However, the total credit to be taken in each Vth and VIth term is 6.0 credit per term. The choice of major specialization will be based on the cumulative academic performance from Term I to Term III and also the preference of the student.

Minor Specialization :
A student can also have a minor specialization by opting 4.0 credit courses from available compulsory / elective courses of the relevant module chosen for minor specialization. The choice of opting for minor specialization rests with the students.
